Brenham man attacks two jailers, faces felony assault charges

WASHINGTON COUNTY, TX — On Feb 6., 24-year-old Brenham resident Jamichael Djon Adams, was arrested around 10:19 P.M. by local police after being recognized for having several active arrest warrants.

Totaling to 5, these misdemeanor warrants included:

  • Driving While Intoxicated
  • Driving While Intoxicated 2nd
  • Theft of Property
  • Assault-Cause Bodily Injury to Family Member
  • Unlawful Restraint

After being transported to the Washington County Jail, Adams allegedly refused to comply with jail staff, which included, the routine changing of clothing.

According to Sheriff Hanak, Adams stroke a detention officer in the face, leading to injury. While attempting to detain Adams, said officer also received an ankle injury.

Another assisting officer, allegedly also suffered a back and leg injury while trying to help detain Adams.

Once under control, both assaulted officers were taken to a nearby hospital where one was treated for both facial injuries, and a broken ankle. Said officer was later able to be released in hospital following treatment.

The other officer that suffered back and leg injuries was treated for pinched nerves, and also later released.

Adams is now being charged with two Felony counts of Assault-Public Servant. Bonds have yet to be set and Adams remains in the Washington County Jail.
