BREMOND, TX — One of the six members confirmed with COVID? Bremond superintendent Daryl Stuard. The schools will close for the rest of the week, while leaders give themselves until Sunday to decide their next move.

”We have six positive and we have three just the other day just the day before yesterday and so that’s why we took the measures we did to keep our kids safe,” said John Burnett, middle school principal.

School leaders have also canceled all extracurricular activities.

”Currently all of our games that were scheduled for tonight and tomorrow night and then we actually had a game scheduled for Saturday a makeup game have all been postponed,” said Burnett.

The regional health department has begun contact tracing on those infected and anyone who came into close contact with those infected will be notified.

”Trying to investigate and figure out who was in close contact with those kids in order to prevent any further spread” said Burnett.

Those who have come in contact with those infected will have to remain off campus for 10 days ensuring the spread does not go any further.

“We just felt like it was the best thing for our kids and for the other communities as well to see if we can stop the spread,” said Burnett.

School leaders have a lot to consider when it comes to their next move.

”We’re still in the process of making that decision, that will be a decision we’ll make here in the next day or so and we’re waiting on more information,” said Burnett.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 7, by the superintendent, the school district provided parents with possible symptoms to look for.

About two weeks ago the Texas health and human services released numbers on reported cases for public schools in Texas. Over five thousand cases have been confirmed among students.
