ROBERTSON COUNTY, TX — Officials say killed two people have been killed and others are left with critical injuries after two crashes in Robertson County on Sunday.
"Unfortunately, we can confirm that both accidents this afternoon have contained fatalities, as well as other critical injuries," said Robertson County EMS.
Officials warned drivers Sunday afternoon to avoid the area of Highway 79 between Franklin and Hearne Sunday afternoon after the first crash involving multiple vehicles. The Highway 79 overpass was shut down between Franklin and Hearne.
After the crash on Highway 79, officials said, "There are serious injuries confirmed, so expect the area to be closed for an extended time."
Another accident was reported on US 190 near Sutton Road a short while later Sunday, also involving multiple vehicles.
"Air medical is in route to the scene. US 190 will be shut down for an extended period of time," said officials around 5 p.m.
At 3:48 p.m., Robertson County Sheriff's Office reported the crash, asking drivers not to travel in the area.
