MIDWAY, Texas — The Midway Little League softball team officially qualified for the Little League World Series with a come-from-behind 6-4 win over Eastbank Little League (Kenner, LA) in the Southwest Region Tournament Championship.

Midway is the second straight Waco-area team to earn a spot in the World Series after Robinson made it in 2021.

Eastbank jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning behind three consecutive successful sacrifice bunts. Midway answered back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second inning, capped off by a two-run hit from Rylee Little.

Little finished the day 3-3 with two doubles and 4 RBI. She broke the game open with another two-run hit in the fourth inning to help lead Midway to a 6-3 lead.

The winner offers Midway a taste of redemption after they lost to Eastbank in the winner's bracket game Tuesday morning. Midway had to overcome deficits in both of its final two games to win the Region Championship.

Midway will play in Game Two of the Little League World Series on August 9 against the winner of the Northwest Region Tournament, which wraps up on July 29.
