HEWITT, TX — Three people have been arrested and charged in connection to an assault of an 80-year-old man on New Year's Eve.

Hewitt Police Chief Jim Devlin said Ladamion Majors, Lakeisha Price, and Iriana Rutledge were all at the elderly victim's home in the 100 block of Bowie Lane.

Police said the suspects wanted to start drinking for the new year, but the victim did not.

According to the victim, Majors became angry and demanded the 80-year-old man give him $500 and the keys to his van.

When the victim refused, police say Majors went outside and returned with a shotgun.

According to Chief Devlin, Price told Majors to put the gun down but eventually helped Rutledge hold the victim's arms so Majors could punch him.

The 80-year-old managed to escape the altercation and drove himself to a nearby Walmart for help.

Police returned to the victims house to investigate and found the suspects at around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.

While searching the suspects, police found a pill on Rutledge that tested positive for MDMA.

Majors was also wanted for violating parole.
