WACO, TX — A federal judge from Waco has denied a motion to issue a gag order in Cecily Aguilar's case. The case is in connection to the death and disappearance of Spc. Vanessa Guillen.
The motion was originally filed on July 27, 2020, by Aguilar's defense attorney and asks that the Guillen family and family lawyer Natalie Khawham do not make public statements that could potentially "[poison] the pool of potential jurors for Ms. Aguilar."
Aguilar's attorney states in the order, "the requested order is the least restrictive means to protect Ms. Aguilar’s right to a fair trial."
According to the arrest affidavit, Aguilar helped the other suspect, Spc. Aaron Robinson, dismember Guillen's body and attempt to burn it after she was bludgeoned to death by Spc. Robinson.
