ORIGINAL STORY:

The defense attorney representing Cecily Aguilar has filed a motion for continuance asking for more time to complete his review of discovery and investigation in this case.

A trial date had been set last month for Aguilar after her initial trial date had been pushed back by two months.

If approved, this will be the third time Aguilar's trial will be pushed back.

According to court documents, re-arraignment was scheduled for September 22 while jury selection and trial was set to begin on September 28. Re-arraignment had been rescheduled to November 10, while jury selection and trial would've begun on November 30.

She was then scheduled to be re-arraigned on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, but that date had been pushed to January 5, 2021.

The motion has neither been approved nor denied yet.

Aguilar pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy to tamper with evidence and two substantive counts of tampering with evidence. Aguilar faces up to 20 years in federal prison for each count upon conviction.
