It's a smile, laughter caught on camera, that can help guide a child to their forever family.
"They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and these are invaluable," said Marilyn Griggs of The Heart Gallery of Central Texas.
Griggs is a photographer and the administrator of The Heart Gallery of Central Texas, a program of the non-profit Partnerships for Children.
"There's all kinds of people out there, all kinds of kids, and they're just looking for the right family," said Griggs.
Children in The Heart Gallery of Central Texas are local kids, ready for adoption. Their portrait is displayed in the traveling exhibit, online and featured right here on "Forever Families."
"Whenever the Forever Families airs on a Wednesday, I'm ready Thursday. A lot of times they never even thought about it, and it inspires them to find out what the process is and get started," said Griggs.
The Heart Gallery relies on volunteer photographers, whether professional or hobbyists, to capture precious moments.
"I've been able to help more children with what I've been doing," said Griggs, "Maybe someone would see that picture and that is the right home and the right family for them."
