(KXXV) — Last fall we met Alohalani, she was a local teen waiting to be adopted.
She and other local foster children traveled to Austin to have some fun at SXSW.
When we met Lani last year at All Sugr'd Up in Waco, she told us her biggest dream.
"I want to own my own business. There are a lot of things I could do. I could be a counselor. I could be a teacher. A baker. I could be in fashion, a model. I can be artistic," said Lani.
At this month's SXSW festival, she got to put her creativity to the test by painting a permanent mural at Native Hostel in Austin titled "Art Fosters Empathy and Compassion."
Lani also spent time with Jessica Shaefer of the Facebook art department learning the technique of creating paper posters using floating pigment and Lani even showed some of her own artistic ability.
Lani is a bright light, a spark. Still waiting to shine love into a family's life.
"I know there's a family for me. I'm just hoping that it will come soon and not later," said Lani.
You can view Lani's bio and learn more about adoption at The Heart Gallery of Central Texas, a program of Partnerships for Children.
"Forever Families" airs every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Central Texas News Now.
