WACO, TX — It takes an estimated $50,000 to operate the Waco Rainbow Room. There are Rainbow Rooms throughout Central Texas and all serve as crisis resource rooms for kids in CPS care.
Just last week, KXXV presented the Waco Rainbow Room with a grant provided by the Scripps Howard Foundation.
But there are different ways the community can donate to such a worthy cause.
"As Waco grows in number it's a domino effect and you have to fill the need. I feel we're only going to grow," said Robert Satchell, the Waco Rainbow Room Coordinator.
Satchell says donations come in all forms. "People's time. We do allow people to come down to the Rainbow Room and volunteer. People's time is just as valuable as money," said Satchell.
You can also host a drive for new items to donate to the Rainbow Room. Some Central Texans even took advantage of Amazon Prime Days to give from the Amazon Wish List.
But it's even better when our youngest citizens decided it's better to give than to receive.
"What does it mean to you when you see young kids realizing the need?" asked KXXV Anchor Lindsay Liepman. "That touches my heart when our kids realize the importance of serving others and coming around. That makes it a better world," said Satchell.
