As we inch closer to election season, McLennan County Elections staff are gearing up to train data clerks and poll judges for November.
"Just trying to get everybody ready, everybody prepared the best we can to make sure we have a smooth election season," says Jared Goldsmith, the McLennan County Assistant Elections Administrator.
Meanwhile, more and more people like Audriana Thicklin are registering to vote.
Thicklin says she was in and out in under 5 minutes but would've waited even longer to be able to vote in this year's election.
"Getting out to vote is easy, it's simple, if you want change then voting is the way to go" says Thicklin.
If your driver's license is expired or if you have an out of state ID, all you need to do to register is pick up a voter registration form, fill out your name, address, Texas driver's license or the last 4 digits of your social security number.
When you're done you hand the form in, and your voter registration card will be mailed to you.
Election officials say in November 2016, McLennan County had 136,333 registered voters, but as of October 1, 2020 there are 147,688 registered voters.
"Every day is voter registration day here, we can get registered 365 days a year here," says Kathy Van Wolfe the McLennan County Elections Administrator.
They anticipate a big rush come the deadline to register to vote, which is Monday, October 5th.
"We are busy, the phones are ringing steadily. And people are actually anxious for early voting to start," says Van Wolfe.
On Election Day, if you don't have a valid Texas driver's license, you can bring in your passport, Texas handgun license, or proof of citizenship with a picture.
