We are one month away from Election Day and voter excitement leading up to the big day continues to grow.

Voters in Central Texas are making sure their voices are heard this fall.

Flags and posters attached to car windows and roofs were part of a caravan of cars in downtown Waco Saturday as residents got into the political spirit.

"We're in the middle of an election year," said Zach Tufenkjian, a Baylor student and Biden supporter. "It's important not only to have our voices be heard but to also show support for the candidates we support alongside that."

For Democrats living in Central Texas, the event offered one of the first opportunities to come together in person to show their support for Joe Biden and other Democratic leaders.

"This event and other events like it all across the state of Texas and within our community are great ways to show support not only for our candidate, but also show the fact that we are unified in this candidate and other people believe the same things we do," said Tufenkjian.

Down the road in Lorena, Trump supporters participated in a similar event as part of a nation-wide effort to voice support for the president.

"Going through downtown Waco and Waco period, the amount of people honking and waving and giving a thumbs up was just unbelievable," said Jeff Chaneyworth, the parade organizer.

President Trump's recent hospitalization has caused some to call for candidates to suspend their campaigns.

Supporters for both sides in Central Texas say they felt they needed to go on.

"I think Trump would want us to do what we're doing today and show the support and not pause because he's ill right now. He wants the support to continue," said Russell Walizer, the other parade organizer.

"I don't have any issue with it. We are praying for him and his family. We don't want to see anyone get COVID," said Tonya Trepinski-Ochoa, a local Biden supporter.

Both sides say it's important for everyone to register to vote this November.

The deadline to register to vote in the November election is this Monday.
