Engagement season marches on despite COVID-19

Despite having to shelter in place and having our lives turned upside down, love is in the air and engagement season is upon us.

Kindler's Gem Jewelers is just one of the many jewelers across Central Texas that has noticed quite a few people coming in to buy a beautiful diamond for that special someone.

COVID-19 has impacted a lot of weddings and events in 2020, but as Tammi Work says, it hasn’t stopped the spread of love.

“I guess that people have found that love is so very important to them, and that they have somebody in their life and they thought, "You know what? I don’t want to do this without him or her," and as soon as we open the doors, we had them coming and they’re still coming,” she said.

The number of couples coming in to purchase engagement rings during this time has been a pleasant surprise for the local jewelry store.

“Our phones started ringing, our personal cell phones. Calling here to the store, and we would get back in touch with them or messenger. "Okay. I do. I love her. Now’s the time, and can you help me?"" said Work.

The couple shopping Thursday had been in contact with the store for some time and was finally excited to try on the ring and see it in person, but they wanted to remain anonymous to keep the surprise for their families.

“We’re just so happy to be back. We missed our store. We missed our business. We missed our customers,” said Wok.

She said they also missed seeing the smiles of the couples as they take this very important step in their lives.

High risk customers can call the jewelry store, and Kindler's is willing to work with you if you would like to request pictures or video of the jewelry you are interested in. They also participate in curbside pick-up.
