KILLEEN, TX — For the September 13 edition of Central Texas Living Andrea Morgan spoke with Stacy Bruce and Nancie Etzel with Variety's Peaceable Kingdom.
Variety, the Children’s Charity of Texas envisions a world without isolation and stigma for children with special needs and their families. Serving over 7,000 children with special needs, their families and their peers, Variety makes a difference by providing resources and empowering experiences for all. Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom is a beautiful 122-acre summer camp and retreat center located near Killeen, TX. Variety’s summer camp program serves over 500 children with special needs and/or chronic illness. Additionally, over 6,500 Central Texas students of all abilities participate in outdoor education, environmental education and leadership programs. Programs at Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom empower children through adventure, nature and play.
Variety is currently looking for more than 200 volunteers to help in the 'Build a Playground at Variety's Peaceable Kingdom' project. This all-abilities playground is made possible by Keurig Dr. Pepper’s Let's Play Initiative, and is a collaboration between Keurig Dr. Pepper, Cinemark and KaBoom!.
