MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 5-year-old Florida boy and his family waited more than a year for a moment that came on Monday.

After bravely battling cancer for 425 days, Slater Bushman was told that his cancer is in remission.

The staff at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis delivered the news to him and his family this week that Slater wouldn't need to undergo any more chemo treatments.

Slater received word he is in remission from Stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma.

With the announcement that he is cancer free, Slater is now returning home to South Florida.

His family has chronicled Slater's journey on Facebook, thanking St. Jude and Slater's doctor.
