What is Republican Proposition 6?

Republican Proposition 6 states, "Texas should ban chemical castration, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital mutilation surgery on all minor children for transition purposes, given that Texas children as young as three (3) are being transitioned from their biological sex to the opposite sex."

What does my vote mean?

By voting "yes," you agree that Texas should ban chemical castration, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital mutilation surgery on all minor children for transition purposes.

By voting "no," you do not agree that Texas should ban chemical castration, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital mutilation surgery on all minor children for transition purposes.

Castration is the removal of the testicles of a male animal or man. Chemical castration is the administration of a drug to bring about a marked reduction in the body's production of androgens and especially testosterone, according to Merriam-Webster.

According to Planned Parenthood, puberty blockers are medicines that prevent puberty from happening. The medicines block the hormones testosterone and estrogen, which lead to puberty-related changes in the body. Puberty blockers stop things like periods and breast growth or voice-deepening and facial hair growth,
