As the Texas Primary begins, 25 News wants you to be informed on what is on the ballot.

Republican voters will be choosing yes or no on 10 Primary ballot propositions.

You are not voting to make a law but merely saying YES you agree or NO you do not agree with the statement. This is a chance for voters to give input on 10 issues the Republican Party has placed on the ballot.

A: Proposition 10 asks if: Texas should limit our state legislator's terms to 12 years.

Q: What are the current state legislator terms?

A: Senators are elected every two years for four-year terms with no term limits. Representatives are elected every two years for two-year terms with no term limits.

Q: What is the Texas legislature?

A: The Texas Legislature is the lawmaking body of the State of Texas. It consists of two chambers, the house of representatives and the senate. The Texas Senate is the upper house of the Texas Legislature. There are 31 members representing districts of population consisting of roughly 811,147 people. The Texas House of Representatives is the lower house of the Texas Legislature. The House consists of 150 members representing districts of population consisting of roughly 167,637 people.
