Dog owners rejoice! The Texas Senate has passed a bill that would allow dogs at restaurant outdoor areas.

The bill is based on a Austin city ordinance from 2016. SB 476 said that restaurants where food is not prepared on the patio can apply for the permit.

The bill only applies to dogs that do not have to enter the restaurant's interior to access the outside area. Dogs must be leashed at all times and cannot sit on chairs.

This bill would overturn any city ordinance meant to create stricter rules at dog-friendly establishments.

Now, the bill has been sent to the house for consideration. In the senate, the bill received a 30-1 vote.
