Texas has ranked as the #8 state for internet coverage, price and speed in the U.S., according to a report.
Texas scored at the top of BroadbandNow's 2020 rankings of best and worst states with high speed internet availability and affordability.
States were ranked from best to worst in each of the following metrics: access to broadband (including satellite), access to terrestrial broadband, access to low-priced wired broadband plans and average MLabs download speed.
Here are the findings for Texas:
- Overall Ranking: #8
- Broadband Internet Access: 85% of population
- Low-Priced Plan Availability: 67% of population
- Average Speed Test: 164 Mbps
The other top 10 states were: #1 New Jersey, #2 New York, #3 Maryland, #4 Rhode Island, #5 Florida, #6 Illinois, #7 District of Columbia, #9 Massachusetts and #10 Connecticut.
The bottom 10 states were: #51 Alaska, #50 Montana, #49 New Mexico, #48 Nebraska, #47 Vermont, #46 Wyoming, #45 Iowa, #44 West Virginia, #43 Maine and #42 Mississippi.
