KILLEEN, TX — Texans will soon be able to have alcoholic beverages delivered right to their doorstep.
A new permit will allow third-party companies, such as Favor or Instacart, to make alcohol deliveries.
Through the new Consumer Delivery permit, companies can pick up alcohol from bars, restaurants and liquor stores licensed by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC).
The TABC is officially accepting applications for the Consumer Delivery permit.
The commission expects to issue the first permits during the third week of December, right in time for the holidays.
The Consumer Delivery permit was created by Senate Bill 1450, which was approved by the 86th Texas Legislature in May and signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott not too long afterward.
