Governor Greg Abbott has postponed the runoff primary election due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The governor postponed the election until July 14, 2020- the same date as the special election for Texas State Senate District 14.

The runoff election was originally scheduled for May 26, but has been postponed in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

This change will apply to the runoff election between Pete Sessions and Renee Swann for the 17th Congressional District race.

Early voting for the postponed runoff primary election will begin on Monday, July 6, 2020.
