Catholic Charities of Central Texas has received a $20,000 grant from the Atmos Energy Sharing the Warmth Program.
This program is designed to assist individuals and families in financial distress with payment of their natural gas bill from Atmos Energy.
“We are so pleased to have been chosen as a recipient of the Sharing the Warmth Program again this year,” said Catholic Charities of Central Texas Executive Director Sara Ramirez. “The pandemic has increased financial burdens on many Central Texas families this year. Thanks to this grant, the families we serve won’t have to worry about keeping the heat on this winter.”
Sharing the Warmth Program funds will be administered through Catholic Charities of Central Texas’ Financial Stability program.
This program helps families avoid homelessness and achieve financial security through case management, education, and emergency financial assistance.
“Just one overdue bill can lead to financial hardship, especially in times of high unemployment,” said Catholic Charities Financial Stability Director John Paci. “Our goal is to help families get out and stay out of the cycle of poverty permanently. This grant from Atmos Energy will allow us to do that, and will ensure our clients’ basic needs are met.”
Catholic Charities of Central Texas has benefitted from the Sharing the Warmth Program since 2016.
