HOUSTON, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a blue alert for a 21-year-old man accused of killing a Nassau Bay police sergeant. He was arrested on Thursday afternoon in a home in the 4200 block of Heritage Trail.

Twenty one-year-old Tavores Henderson is accused of killing 43-year-old Sergeant Kaila Sullivan of the Nassau Bay Police Department.

Sgt. Sullivan was conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle at an apartment complex in the 2000 block of San Sebastion Court around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The driver was wanted on a Harris County warrant for assault on a family member, police say.

While trying to arrest the driver, police said the suspect fought with officers and was able to break free, re-enter the vehicle, and hit Sullivan as he drove away.

Henderson is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 180 bounds with brown eyes.
