ALVARADO, TX — Alvarado ISD announced they are canceling school for the remainder of the week.
The district initially canceled school on Wednesday after an individual was exposed to the coronavirus at a doctor's office.
Now, students who live with the employee are showing symptoms of the coronavirus, prompting the school to make the decision.
"We appreciate your understanding in this fluid situation. We will continue to communicate updates as new information becomes available. The safety of our students and staff is paramount in every decision made by Alvarado ISD," the district said.
The individual is an employee at the doctor's office and was told to self-quarantine.
The district said they are making this decision out of an abundance of caution.
