Shortly after 12:00 noon on Thursday, Waco officers were sent to the Metro PCS store at 1920 Park Lake Dr. for a disturbance in progress.

As officers arrived, they encountered a female later identified as Jazetta Kelly.

Officers say when they located Kelly, she had been knocking things off of the shelves inside the store and was becoming more violent.

"Officers attempted to talk with her to de-escalate the situation but she kept would not calm down," said Waco Officer Garen Bynum.

Eventually, officers took Kelly into custody and tried to place her in the back seat of a patrol vehicle.

While being placed in a patrol vehicle, police say Kelly kicked a Waco PD officer in the chest.

Afterward, she was safely restrained and later transported to the McLennan County Jail.

"Thankfully, our officer nor Ms. Kelly was injured during the incident," said Bynum.
