WACO, TX — During Spring Break, most students are hanging out with friends and relaxing, but some spent part of their time learning how to save a life.

West Waco Library held a CPR, first aid and AED training course.

16 students participated in the five hour course and were able to receive their American Heart Association Card.

Park Rangers demonstrated technique, as well as identifying when someone is in need of assistance and using an AED package found in most common places. Library staff express that they want the youth to be equipped in case of any emergency.

"Our Teenagers are very productive in our community. Sometimes they're baby sitting, or they're taking on new jobs, they're being around family and community, and we want to better equip them in an emergency, because who knows, they may one day be able to save a life," said Stacy Phillips, Children's Librarian at the West Waco Library.
