WACO, TX — A Waco police officer is OK after being trapped in her patrol car after an accident Thursday night.
Waco police said the accident happened Thursday at 11:30 p.m. at Hewitt Drive and Imperial.
Police said that an officer was traveling north on Hewitt Drive when she was struck by a car traveling west on Imperial. The driver of the other vehicle ran the red light.
The patrol SUV rolled onto its side and then upside down, trapping the officer. Another patrol unit was nearby and assisted in freeing the officer.
The officer was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries and has since been released. The driver of the other vehicle was cited at the scene.
Waco police was also assisted by Hewitt police.
