WACO, TX — Early Monday morning, Waco police blocked off several streets in North Waco to investigate a discharge of firearms incident.

It happened in the 2600 block of Herring Avenue at 1:30 a.m.

According to Commander Luis Almaguer, on their way to the scene officers heard four gunshots. They later determined the shots were not coming from the street.

"We get discharges very regularly but getting to hear the discharges is not very common so this was something out of the ordinary,” Almaguer said.

A witness told officers someone discharged from a trailer in the back of a house.

Almaguer said officers tried to make contact with the person living there through speakers but they didn’t receive a response.

Soon after, the SWAT team was called in. However, in the end, police were not able to make contact with anyone and didn’t have enough evidence to force their way into the trailer.

In addition, police said they were not able to tell if someone was inside the trailer and they couldn’t determine if the person firing the weapon was shooting at someone else.

Officers cleared the scene after 4:30 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
