WACO, TX — Officers dispatched at approximately 8:59 am to the 10000 block of Iron Horse Trl. for a welfare check. Waco Police had the street blocked off at China Creek Dr. to the end of the street.
One woman gave officers information that her 39-year-old husband was suicidal, and that there were guns in the couple's home.
When the individual refused to come to the door, a SWAT team and MHMR Crisis Team was called out due to the circumstances to assist with the situation.
The MHMR Crisis Team obtained a mental health warrant, and both the SWAT team and negotiators tried to get the man out of the house to serve the warrant.
After 7 1/2 hours the man came outside and was taken into custody. He was then taken to a hospital to be evaluated based on the mental health warrant.
