WACO, TX — Kendrick Park in Waco received its official ribbon cutting today.
The new developments come after the surrounding neighborhoods expressed concerns about wanting new features and a more accessible way to enjoy time with family and friends.
The $500,000 dollar project was funded 90-percent by a Federal Community Development Block grant and 10% by the City of Waco.
Despite the cold children were out playing on the new equipment earlier today. Aniya Hernandez and her friends came out to enjoy the new activities.
Some of Hernandez's favorites include the new rocking bench that can sit all of her friends to laugh and play.
"I'm very excited," Hernandez said. "To have this opportunity to run around this park and actually have a better opportunity to have more fun with friends and family."
Hernandez has frequented the park many times, even before renovations began, but she plans to come back even more now that it's new and improved.
She was over joyed when KXXV asked her about how much she liked the new accessories.
"On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say 100." Hernandez said.
There was also a new 1/5 mile paved walkway trail added to the area.
