WACO, TX — Waco ISD Spokesperson Kyle Debeer said a student is in Waco ISD police custody after a video online shows him flashing a knife around school.

The student attends Waco High School and has been charged with deadly conduct. Waco ISD said that he did not threaten anyone, but after an argument, he brandished the knife.

In the video on Instagram, the student is seen pulling a knife out of his bag and walking around with it.

"You may have seen a video that was posted on social media earlier today showing a student outside our building with a knife. While there was no interruption to our school day and classes continued as normal, I want you to know that the discovery of a weapon on campus is something that we take very seriously. State and federal privacy laws limit how much information I can share, but both the campus and the Waco ISD Police Department are acting to address this incident," principal Ed Love said.

In addition to the deadly conduct charge, there will be a separate discipline process conducted by the school administrators.
