WACO, TX — Waco ISD says graduation ceremonies are still scheduled, however a committee is preparing a plan in cases plans need to be changed.

In a letter, Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon said graduation ceremonies are still scheduled for May 30 at the Waco ISD Stadium. However, Dr. Kincannon said it is not clear if the district will be able to host large gatherings by then.

Governor Abbott is expected to announce the second phase of his reopening plan on April 27 and the third phase sometime in May.

The district has created a committee of seniors, parents of seniors and high school staff members to advise on how to adjust graduation if the ceremonies are not able to go on this afternoon.

The district is also asking for the public's input on how to celebrate seniors and their accomplishments. You can share your ideas by emailing kyle.debeer@wacoisd.org. We welcome ideas from anyone and everyone, but if you’re a senior or the family member of a senior, please note that in your message.
