The United Way of Waco McLennnan County and the Waco Foundation have partnered together to create a COVID-19 community response fund.
$125,000 will be given to Caritas of Waco, EOAC, Missions Waco, and the Salvation Army to be used to help those in the community fulfill needs of food, shelter, utilities, and childcare.
As shelter-in-place orders are being lifted, the economic effects of COVID-19 will stick around for many families.
"We think it's important that everyone recognize that with those do continue to lift, our populations are still vulnerable, and families are experiencing economic hardship and those needs don't go away overnight. They're going to continue to be here, and they're going to continue to grow and emerge with time," said Stephanie Mabry, Spokesperson for United Way of Waco-McLennan County.
One hundred percent of the COVID-19 community response fund donations will go to individuals and families in need.
