The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close the northbound frontage road from Forrest Street to BUS 77 at 7 a.m., Monday, May 11 for drainage work.
The roadway is expected to be closed for the duration of the work and reopen at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 14.
Crews plan to close the roadway again on Friday, May 15 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., to complete the work. Traffic will be directed to the northbound mainlanes south of Forrest Street.
Crews also plan to close all east and westbound lanes of US 84/Waco Drive under I-35 at 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 12 for drainage work. Crews will first close all westbound lanes, then reopen the lanes, and close all eastbound lanes. This closure is expected to last only a few hours.
Crews plan to close all north and southbound I-35 mainlanes near Forrest Street from 7 p.m. to midnight, Thursday, May 14 to continue work on the turnaround lane at Forrest Street. Drivers on northbound I-35 will be directed to exit at MLK Boulevard (Exit 335C) and may reenter the mainlanes north of BUS 77. Southbound travelers will be directed to exit at US 84/Waco Drive (Exit 338A) and may reenter the mainlanes south of 5th Street. To keep the traveling public safe and traffic flowing during this time, east and westbound drivers will be allowed to cross under I-35 at 17th/18th Streets, Behrens Circle, and N Loop 340. Crews will close 4th/5th Streets, University Parks Drive, MLK Boulevard, Forrest Street, BUS 77, and US 84/Waco Drive to all east and westbound cross traffic at I-35.
