AXTELL, TX — Two people are dead after a two-vehicle crash in Axtell on April 29.

DPS said on April 29 at 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on SH 31 at FM 2311, east of Axtell.

An investigation determined a Nissan pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 2311, and entered the intersection without properly stopping at the stop sign.

The driver of the Nissan, 58-year-old Richard Raines, was struck by the driver of a Ford pickup truck, 76-year-old Carol Cornelius, traveling eastbound on SH 31.

The driver of the Nissan was not secured by a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
