WACO, TX — The City of Waco has ordered all bars, dine-in restaurants and gyms to close due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Mayor Kyle Deaver declared a local state of disaster and local health emergency.

The order takes effect tonight and is in effect for 7 days unless officials take further action.
All gatherings of indoor or outdoor meetings of more than 50 people at the same time are prohibited. In addition, restaurants may only provide takeout or delivery services. Bars are ordered closed. Indoor recreation facilities are ordered closed.
Daycares can still operate.
The order does not apply to schools, office space, child care facilities, residential buildings, grocery stores, malls, retail establishments, hospitals and medical facilities if those present are not generally “within six feet of one another for extended periods.”
The City urges residents to cancel or to avoid non-essential events involving more than 10 people.
A violation of this order will be a Class C violation and could carry an $1,000 fine. Click here to see the zoning definitions that are part of the official declaration.
They also urge high risk individuals to cancel, reschedule and to avoid non-essential events of any size.
Mayor Deaver says people should only go out when necessary.
No cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in McLennan County, according to officials.
Waco Health officials said patients are tested based on CDC guidelines and eligibility.
