WEST, TX — Every Texan knows West is a must-stop if you are driving south on I-35, but now one West food stop is getting the recognition it deserves.
Slovacek's in West was named one of the 10 best food stops at gas stations in the entire U.S. by MSN.
"These Czech pastries are popular breakfast items that made their way to the United States via immigrants, eventually finding themselves in Texas. There are a number of popular places to get them, but gas stations are one easy option like the ones at this Texas Exxon," they said in the article.
Slovavek's said it's much more than a rest stop - they said they are a break from teh road, a unique place to shop and a taste of real Texas Czech flavor.
"While you fill up your tank, step inside our spacious store and marvel at our bakery (with 37 types of kolaches), deli, meats (including our famous sausage), and gifts galore. There's even a beer cave that we always keep at a cool 32 degrees, and we also carry a wide variety of imported beers and some microbreweries," they said on their website.
