WACO, TX — The 2nd Annual Waco Family and Faith International Film Festival will kick off on Thursday, February 4th, and many exciting things are happening for the community to enjoy despite the pandemic.

On Friday, February 5th, a drive-in theatre will happen at the First Woodway Baptist Church at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, February 6th, there will be three locations with multiple locations to choose from at 7 p.m.

People can also stream them online for free. There will be over 50 films from all over the world, bringing diversity to Central Texas.

"Which has 55 films from all over the world from such countries like Italy, France, the UK, Ukraine," said Dr. Tyrha Lindsey-Warren.

Founder and Lead Producer Dr. Tyrha Lindsey-Warren, says films are powerful and hopes Central Texans will join in the fun and check out something they've never seen before.

"A film can do what no pastor, no teacher, no parent, no counselor can do. Storytelling has that much transformational power in our lives."

In celebrating Black History Month and as part of this year's festival, a one-man plan, "An Adam Experiment," will be taking place at the Waco Civic Theatre starring Michael Chenevert.

"We believe in not only recognizing everything that has been done in the past but celebrating the present and the future, and that is what this play does," said Dr. Tyrha Lindsey-Warren.

The play explores a day in the life of Adam Clayton Powell Jr., a civil rights crusader. Chenevert worked on this play from scratch for over 10 years.

"You produce it, write it and cut it and so it all, so it takes you to another level with the experience as an artist, so that is amazing," said Michael Chenevert.

It's a part of history that changed the direction of this country and continues to be celebrated.

"We are all human. He was a human being. He had adversity and powered through that and did something for his people, he did something to elevate humanity, and that is what I want people to take away," said Chenevert.

Overall, the festival is full of talent, diversity, and history that anyone can enjoy from their couch, car, or Waco Civic Theatre.

In keeping with the City of Waco's guidelines for Covid 19, the Waco Family & Faith International Film Festival is instituting the following protocols:
