ROBINSON, TX — The Robinson area Lions Club is asking the community to donate funds to do long-term repairs to the community pool.
Treasurer Doug Lyon anticipates the pool will need a new stand for the high dive and a tarp to cover the pool. In addition, the coping around the pool will need replaced within the next two to four years.
He estimates the work to have a cost of up to $50,000.
An online post earlier this month stated the pool wouldn't open for the summer months if the repairs were not made.
According to treasurer Doug Lyon, the post, which was not made by a member of the nonprofit group, was incorrect.
The pool will open on May 25 as anticipated and pool parties will go on as planned, according to Lyon.
He added, the organization installed two new slides and a low dive for this upcoming season.
"We finally got enough to scrape together to do the slides and the stuff we felt to where we could open the pool. There is no problem with it opening. There is no problem with safety," Lyon said. "We...look forward to the kids coming out and having a good time like they always do."
If you are interested in donating to help with the long-terms repairs of the pool, you can send donations to Rocket Glass and Mirror at 413 N. Robinson road in Robinson.
