WACO, TX — A Waco police sergeant who was killed in 1989 will be remembered forever after a portion of Highway 84 was dedicated in his memory.
Sergeant Bobby Vicha worked for the Waco Police Department for 18 years before he was killed by Billie Wayne Coble in 1989. Coble was executednearly 30 years after committing the crime.
J.R. Vicha, Sgt. Vicha's son, worked to dedicate a portion of Highway 84 in honor of his father.
On Monday, March 3, Waco PD stood alongside the Vicha family to watch the unveiling of the new Waco Police Sgt. Bobby Vicha Memorial Highway.
The memorial highway spans a portion of U.S. Highway 84 in McLennan County, between its intersection with Farm-to-Market Road 1330 and its intersection with North Vicha Road.
