LACY LAKEVIEW, TX — There's a competition going on at the Lacy Lakeview Police Department as officers kick off No Shave November.
It's part of the Beard It Up campaign to help raise money for pediatric cancer research.
"Some guys grow it in patchy, and then some guys it grows super slow and patchy and then they get full ones," said Officer Tanner Foster.
For Detective Kevin Carter, cancer is a subject that hits close to home.
"i lost a mother and a grandmother the same year, about two years back. I can't even imagine a child in my family having cancer and having to go through that," said Detective Carter.
So it was no question for him to encourage his fellow officers to get involved.
Ladies in the department found creative ways to get involved by coloring their hair and fingernails crazy colors.
"Even if you can't grow a beard, or it looks bad or you just don't want to grow it, just donate. A little bit helps out the whole way," said Officer Foster.
