WACO, TX — Waco police said an argument between two cousins turned into a shooting on Tuesday night.
Police believe the argument between the two woman started over money. The argument erupted into a physical fight with several people joining in. During the fight, one of the women grabbed a handgun and fired a shot into the air, causing the other woman to grab her own weapon.
Police said the cousins then began to shoot at each other. Many people were in the area as the women were shooting, but only one of the cousins and several parked cars were shot.
It was reported that the suspects left in a red Chevrolet Equinox. Police found the car and the injured cousin, Tierra Smith, inside. Police said there were also several women and young children inside the car.
Smith taken to the emergency room to be treated for her gunshot wound in her hand.
The other cousin involved in the shooting has not been located as of Wednesday. Police will continue to investigate.
