AXTELL, TX — A violent dog attack left one woman's four-legged family member on the brink of death in Axtell. Now the pet owner is concerned the pack of dogs could attack a child.

Tarrah Bailey's pitbull Sancho is recovering from an attack that left him seriously injured.

"Just demolished him. He was bleeding. We didn't know if he was gonna make it," she said.

Earlier this month, Bailey said she got a call from a neighbor that her dog was attacked by a pack of dogs.

The pack has been seen running loose through her neighborhood before.

"They belong to somebody, but nobody wants to fess up and say these are my dogs," said Bailey.

The family rushed Sancho to the animal hospital, and the vet stopped counting at 70 puncture wounds.

"The wounds he got were to kill. They got his neck. They got his bottom," Bailey recounted.

Bailey lives in a farm community, and she's worried about what might happen to young children who may be playing outside.

"I have children. I don't even let them play outside since this happened. If it was my child... I don't know what I would do," she said.

Bailey said she's called police multiple times, but by the time they show up, the dogs are gone. Now neighbors are taking matters into their own hands.

"Oh yes, my neighbor has already shot at them. I don't think he's hit them but he's shot at them," Bailey said.

She said she want's whoever owns these dogs to keep track of them before they cause more harm or are injured themselves.

"My kids love this dog. This is not a dog to us. This is a family member, and I'm sure the owner of those dogs feels the same way about their dogs," she said.
