Woman killed in Golinda accident identified

GOLINDA, TX — One person was killed in a major wreck on Highway 77.

Officials on scene said the two semis and an SUV collided on Wednesday around 7:30 a.m.

The woman, identified as Carol Pruitt, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene. Pruitt was from the Lott area.

Officials say that an investigation determined that Pruitt's SUV hydroplaned and she lost control of the vehicle. The SUV hit a semi-truck that was traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the semi-truck was taken to the hospital for a possible injury.

The crash happened near the Golinda Volunteer Fire Department. Traffic in the area was delayed as crews responded.

Responding crews include the Golinda Volunteer Fire Department, Falls County Sheriff's Office, Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.
