One airlifted to hospital after two 18-wheelers crash, catch on fire on I-35

LORENA, TX — One person has been airlifted to the hospital after two 18-wheelers caught fire in Lorena Friday morning.

TxDOT said two 18-wheelers crashed into each other just north of Callan Ranch Road on southbound I-35 near exit 321.

One driver was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest, the other driver was also taken to the hospital.

All mainlanes are closed, as well as one lane of the access road. Traffic is backed up to Rosenthal Road and is moving through very slowly on the remaining lane.

At 11:48 a.m., TxDOT said all lanes on I-35 in Lorena were clear and are now open.
