WACO, TX — Coach Chapman of University High School's passing can be felt in all areas of the Waco community.

Mike Chapman was more than a soccer coach to many of his students, and when he passed away on Jan. 14 - everyone came together to honor him.

Chapman was 58 years old when he died.

He was a role model to many, and he positively impacted numerous lives with his Make-A-Wish program. There is even a petition to rename Waco ISD stadium after him.

And then, on Tuesday, even Midway and Waco High School showed their solidarity with University High School in honor of Coach Chapman. It was the first district game between two Waco schools after his passing.

During the Waco High School vs. Midway High School soccer game, the school's boys came out in purple shirts during warm ups. Every single coach and player placed flowers in his memory, and before the match, the Midway coaches spoke about what Chapman meant to them.

"It’s not the same without you, Coach Chapman," they said in a post.
