MEXIA, TX — Mexia High School has announced their senior graduation will take place on May 22.
Mexia High School says they will hold a graduation commencement for the class of 2020 on Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m. on Blackcat Field.
"We hope this ceremony will provide our graduates with a positive experience as they embark on the next chapter in their lives," the letter said. "Our focus will always be the safety and well-being of our students, staff and community."
Mexia HS says they graduation will remain in compliance with the guidelines established by Gov. Abbott and the TEA.
Graduates will be limited in bringing a total of 6 family members to the ceremony. The event will be livestreamed, and FM radio broadcast will also be available to neighborhoods in the immediate proximity.
Graduates and their selected six family members may begin lining up in their car in the MHS parking lot at 6 p.m.
MISD employees will screen the vehicle occupants for symptoms of COVID-19.
One of the six family members is being asked to sit on the field with their graduate. When directed during the commencement, this family member will go to the stage and hand their graduate the diploma.
