WACO, TX — McLennan Community College has donated supplies and loaned equipment to three area healthcare organizations.
Healthcare organizations in Central Texas and across the country are struggling with supply shortages amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The college loaned four ventilators to Ascension Providence. Ten hospital beds from the College's Health Professions division were loaned to Baylor, Scott and White Medical Center-Hillcrest.
MCC donated supplies including face masks, nitrile exam gloves, surgical gowns and isolation gowns to Providence, Hillcrest and the Family Health Center.
"We are extremely blessed to have amazing facilities and tools to teach our students,” said Glynnis Gaines, Dean of Health Professions. “It is our pleasure to contribute to a unified effort to care for patients in our community through the donation of supplies and sharing of necessary equipment. The faculty in our programs are not only educators, but healthcare professionals. If we can support our colleagues and help our community through these simple gestures, we feel it is our privilege and our duty."
