Mart-native Jesse Plemons stars in Oscar-nominated movie

MART, TX — When you are watching the Oscars on Sunday night, you might want to be rooting for "The Irishman."

Jesse Plemons plays Chuckie O'Brien, the foster son of the infamous Jimmy Hoffa. Plemons is a Mart, TX native.

He said in high school, he split his time between Los Angeles and Mart - population 2,209.

"The Irishman" is nominated for 10 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Costume Design, and Best Visual Effects

Al Pacino and Joe Pesci are both nominated for Best Supporting Actor for their roles in the film.

Plemons is not new to acting in Oscar-nominated films. He portrayed Kurt, Dick Cheney's organ recipient, in "Vice" in 2018. And in 2017, he played Toby in the Oscar-nominated film, "The Post".

He was also in "Bridge of Spies", which was nominated in 2015.

Plemons is most recognized for his role in "Friday Night Lights", playing Landry. His character was the beloved good guy.

He started the role when he was 18 years old in 2006. The show ended in 2011.

He is engaged to actress Kirsten Dunst. They couple has one child together.
