A local boy has passed away after a battle with terminal brain cancer.

Jon Mathew Graefser passed away Saturday after fighting medulloblastoma, a terminal brain cancer, for the second time in five years, according to a "Prayers for Jon" Facebook page.

The Sheriff's Law Enforcement Association of McLennan County posted a tribute to the young boy on Sunday saying his mother was a corporal in the jail division before having to leave the sheriff's office to take care of Jon.

"He passed peacefully in the loving arms of his mother and father. In his final moments, he was smothered with love and was told its ok to go home to the arms of our Heavenly Father where his new body awaits him. His loving parents, adoring sister, brother and family were all by his side every second, loving and praying with him until his last breath here on earth," the "Prayers for Jon" Facebook page said.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara swore Jon in as a deputy sheriff several years ago, according to the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Association of McLennan County.
